DTD 1431 MkII
DTD 1431 MkII
The BNVD-1431 MK2 is a dual-tube binocular night vision device: two MX-10160 format 18 mm intensifier tubes, both eyes working, natural depth perception. It runs helmet-mounted, on a head mount or handheld, and it suits anyone who wants both eyes under tubes for long stretches with the option to keep one eye dark-adapted. MX-11769 tubes fit after minor modification.
The housing is fibre-reinforced polymer on a standard Wilcox dovetail, sealed to IP68, and it runs on a single AA cell or an external battery pack. Each pod flips through 140 degrees on its own, so you can put both eyes under tubes or drop one pod for a map, a screen or a torch. A gravity sensor powers the device down when you flip it up and wakes it when you move, and an IR flood light and a one-button interface handle the rest.
For glass it takes standard PVS-14 pattern lenses (A3256342) as well as commercial 40 degree, 51 degree and ultra-light resin sets, and the pods accept thermal imagers such as the E-COTI and Jerry-C, giving you thermal fusion for night vision on the same housing.
What you are actually choosing is the tube. White (P45) is what most customers take, and it carries the full ladder: GEN2+ NVT5 FOM1600+ AG, GEN2+ NVT6 FOM1800+ AG, GEN2+ NVT7 FOM2000+ AG, GEN3 FOM1800+, GEN3 FOM2000+. Green is stocked in the entry tube, GEN2+ NVT4 FOM1400+ AG, in both P22 and P43 at the same price; if you want green further up the ladder, ask and we will source it. Every tube we sell is autogated, and the data sheet for each tube fitted to your device ships with it.

Questions before you buy
Green (P22) or green (P43)?
Both are green, and the difference is the chemistry of the phosphor screen, which sets the tone of the image and how quickly it decays. P22 is the deeper, traditional night vision green with longer persistence, which some people read as a smoother image. P43 is a lighter, slightly yellow-green tone with a narrower output spectrum and a faster decay, so fast movement smears less. Neither is better; it is preference, and the tube behind the screen determines actual performance. Most of our customers choose white (P45), which renders the scene in greyscale and is easier to read over long sessions, so we stock green in the entry tube only. If you want green on a higher tube, ask us and we will source it.
Which tube tier should I choose?
Figure of merit (FOM) is signal-to-noise ratio multiplied by resolution. It ranks tubes on paper, but it does not show noise behaviour, halo or edge sharpness, so a higher tier buys you a cleaner image in less light rather than a different kind of image. The ladder runs GEN2+ NVT4 FOM1400+ AG, GEN2+ NVT5 FOM1600+ AG, GEN2+ NVT6 FOM1800+ AG, GEN2+ NVT7 FOM2000+ AG, GEN3 FOM1800+ and GEN3 FOM2000+. Every tier listed is autogated, so the tube switches its voltage automatically to protect itself and hold contrast when bright light enters the scene, street lamps included.
Why a binocular over a monocular?
Two tubes give depth perception and less eye fatigue over hours. A monocular keeps one eye dark-adapted and travels lighter. The BNVD-1431 MK2 splits the difference: each pod flips independently, so you can drop one pod and keep that eye dark-adapted whenever you want to.
Can I add thermal?
Yes. The pods accept thermal imagers such as the E-COTI and Jerry-C, which gives you thermal fusion for night vision on the housing you already own.
Can you ship outside Switzerland?
Complete devices are controlled items. We deliver to Switzerland, Liechtenstein and EU and Schengen countries. Outside Switzerland and Liechtenstein we need a signed End User Certificate and export clearance before dispatch, and if clearance fails you get a full refund.
Export and delivery
Export and delivery
Night vision and thermal devices ship to Switzerland, Liechtenstein and EU/Schengen countries only. Deliveries outside Switzerland and Liechtenstein require a signed End User Certificate: after payment we send you the certificate, you sign and return it, we complete Swiss export clearance, and your device is dispatched with tracking. If clearance cannot be obtained for your country, the order is refunded in full. Collection at the Villmergen showroom, by appointment, is free of charge.
