DTD PVS-14
DTD PVS-14
The PVS-14 is a single-tube night vision monocular and the sensible way into the range. One eye works through the tube while the other stays adapted to the dark, so half your sight stays natural: peripheral awareness intact, and you can glance at a lit screen and still see when you look away. It runs helmet-mounted, on a head mount or in the hand.
The numbers that matter: 40 degrees of field at 1x magnification, a 27 mm objective at f/1.2, focus from 25 cm to infinity, 25 mm of eye relief and diopter adjustment from -6 to +2. An integrated infrared illuminator is fitted, with indicator LEDs for the illuminator and for a low battery. The redesigned battery compartment lets you power the device down while it sits upright on the mount. One AA cell runs it for 50 hours or more, the housing is waterproof to 20 m for two hours, and the whole thing measures 114 by 64 by 70 mm.
What you are actually choosing is the tube. White (P45) is what most customers take, and it carries the full ladder: GEN2+ NVT5 FOM1600+ AG, GEN2+ NVT6 FOM1800+ AG, GEN2+ NVT7 FOM2000+ AG, GEN3 FOM1800+, GEN3 FOM2000+. Green is stocked in the entry tube, GEN2+ NVT4 FOM1400+ AG, in both P22 and P43 at the same price; if you want green further up the ladder, ask and we will source it. Every tube we sell is autogated, and the data sheet for each tube fitted to your device ships with it.
Every device is assembled and checked before dispatch. See it in the dark room at our Villmergen showroom, by appointment.

Questions before you buy
Green (P22) or green (P43)?
Both are green, and the difference is the chemistry of the phosphor screen, which sets the tone of the image and how quickly it decays. P22 is the deeper, traditional night vision green with longer persistence, which some people read as a smoother image. P43 is a lighter, slightly yellow-green tone with a narrower output spectrum and a faster decay, so fast movement smears less. Neither is better; it is preference, and the tube behind the screen determines actual performance. Most of our customers choose white (P45), which renders the scene in greyscale and is easier to read over long sessions, so we stock green in the entry tube only. If you want green on a higher tube, ask us and we will source it.
Which tube should I choose?
FOM is signal-to-noise ratio multiplied by resolution, so it ranks tubes on paper. Noise behaviour, halo and edge sharpness are judged by looking, which is what the dark room is for. Higher tiers buy a cleaner image in less light, and the GEN2+ NVT7 FOM2000+ AG and GEN3 options sit at the top of this range. Tell us your use case and we will answer plainly.
What does autogating do?
An autogated tube switches its voltage rapidly to protect itself and hold contrast when bright light enters the scene, street lamps and torches included. The AG in a tube name marks it: GEN2+ NVT5 FOM1600+ AG and GEN2+ NVT7 FOM2000+ AG both carry it.
Can I compare before I buy?
Yes. The showroom in Villmergen has a dark room for side-by-side comparison, by appointment.
Do you ship outside Switzerland?
Yes: Switzerland, Liechtenstein and the EU and Schengen countries. Deliveries outside Switzerland and Liechtenstein require a signed End User Certificate, and we handle the export clearance.
