DTD PVS-14

DTD PVS-14

A single-tube monocular, and the most versatile way to own night vision. One eye looks through the device while the other stays adapted to the dark, so you keep your natural night sight and can glance at a map or a lit screen without being blinded.

It works on a helmet, on a head mount, or simply held in the hand. Light enough to forget you are wearing it, and simple enough that there is very little to learn before you are useful in the dark. For most people buying their first device, this is the sensible place to start.

Come and look through one at the showroom in Villmergen, by appointment.

Questions before you buy

Green (P22) or green (P43)?

Both are green, and the difference is the chemistry of the phosphor screen, which sets the tone of the image and how quickly it decays. P22 is the deeper, traditional night vision green with longer persistence, which some people read as a smoother image. P43 is a lighter, slightly yellow-green tone with a narrower output spectrum and a faster decay, so fast movement smears less. Neither is better; it is preference, and the tube behind the screen determines actual performance. Most of our customers choose white (P45), which renders the scene in greyscale and is easier to read over long sessions, so we stock green in the entry tube only. If you want green on a higher tube, ask us and we will source it.

Which tube should I choose?

FOM is signal-to-noise ratio multiplied by resolution, so it ranks tubes on paper. Noise behaviour, halo and edge sharpness are judged by looking, which is what the dark room is for. Higher tiers buy a cleaner image in less light, and the GEN2+ NVT7 FOM2000+ AG and GEN3 options sit at the top of this range. Tell us your use case and we will answer plainly.

What does autogating do?

An autogated tube switches its voltage rapidly to protect itself and hold contrast when bright light enters the scene, street lamps and torches included. The AG in a tube name marks it: GEN2+ NVT5 FOM1600+ AG and GEN2+ NVT7 FOM2000+ AG both carry it.

Can I compare before I buy?

Yes. The showroom in Villmergen has a dark room for side-by-side comparison, by appointment.

Do you ship outside Switzerland?

Yes: Switzerland, Liechtenstein and the EU and Schengen countries. Deliveries outside Switzerland and Liechtenstein require a signed End User Certificate, and we handle the export clearance.

Export and delivery

Night vision and thermal devices ship to Switzerland, Liechtenstein and EU/Schengen countries only. Deliveries outside Switzerland and Liechtenstein require a signed End User Certificate: after payment we send you the certificate, you sign and return it, we complete Swiss export clearance, and your device is dispatched with tracking. If clearance cannot be obtained for your country, the order is refunded in full. Spare parts and accessories are not controlled goods: they ship without a certificate. Collection at the Villmergen showroom, by appointment, is free of charge.
