If you have landed here, one question usually comes before all the others: thermal or night vision? What follows is what we explain in the showroom anyway.

Thermal or night vision: why that is the wrong question

An image intensifier amplifies the light that is there and gives you shape and detail: faces, terrain, depth. It stops exactly where the residual light stops: no moon, heavy cover, deep shadow.

Thermal shows heat instead of light. It reveals what is hiding: an animal in undergrowth, a person behind cover, a warm engine in a dark yard. What it gives up is the detail that tells you what you are looking at.

So the honest answer is not either-or, it is both in one image: heat laid over the intensified picture, and things residual light alone would never reveal simply appear. The long version, range terminology and the limits of the technology included, lives in the post in our guide.

Thermal fusion: heat and night vision in one image

COTI is a compact thermal module that sits in front of the optic of a night vision device you already own. It replaces nothing and adds a layer: the thermal image is overlaid on the intensified one, both at once, no device swap, no losing the scene from view.

It mounts on the night vision device itself, and that sits on the helmet. Helmet-mounted for observation, in other words, not weapon-mounted: the modules attach to fielded devices without modification.

Fusion earns its keep exactly where night vision alone struggles: no moon, heavy cover, deep shadow.

Jerry C5 or Jerry-C PRO

Both modules work on the same principle, share the same sensor class, are sealed to IP67 and weigh little enough to stay on the device. Both assume you already own night vision.

The Jerry C5 is the standard module: aluminium housing, onboard battery slot, external battery pack compatible. If you are adding a thermal layer to your night vision for the first time, this is the one.

The Jerry-C PRO is the step up for regular use: a wider thermal picture, cleaner image processing, a built-in digital compass, controls that work with gloves on, and remote operation for when reaching up to the device is awkward. On the external battery pack it runs far longer than on a single cell.

Looking for a thermal front attachment for hunting?

Searches for a thermal front attachment often mean a unit that mounts ahead of a rifle scope for hunting. Our fusion modules are not that: they mount on a helmet-worn night vision device and are built for observation, not as a weapon attachment.

If a rifle-mounted hunting unit is what you are after, we would rather say so here than after the purchase: these modules are neither intended nor offered for weapon mounting.

Buying, warranty and delivery

Prices include Swiss VAT. Every device carries a two-year warranty from the day it is delivered. We run instalment plans in-house for customers resident in Switzerland: ask us.

We deliver to Switzerland, Liechtenstein and the EU and Schengen area. Inside Switzerland and to Liechtenstein there is no extra step. For any delivery beyond that we send an End User Certificate after payment: you sign, we complete Swiss export clearance, and the module ships with tracking. If clearance is not granted, we refund in full.

The showroom in Villmergen is open by appointment and collection is free of charge. Bring your night vision device and we will check the fit on it directly.
